HowMaker

Terms of service

These terms govern your use of HowMaker, operated by HowMaker. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use HowMaker for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to act for that organisation.

Accounts and security

You must provide accurate account information and keep login details secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account and for controlling access granted to members of your organisation. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

The service

HowMaker provides tools for creating, editing, publishing, sharing and managing guides and related content. Features, limits and support levels depend on the active plan. Free features remain subject to the limits shown in the service.

Your content

You keep ownership of content you upload or create. You give HowMaker the limited permission needed to host, process, reproduce and deliver that content solely to operate HowMaker and provide the features you request. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed for uploaded text, images, audio, personal information and other material.

Browser recorder

The browser recorder starts only when an authorised creator chooses to record. You are responsible for choosing pages you are allowed to record and for reviewing captured screenshots before publication. HowMaker masks text entered in form fields before recorder screenshots, but other information visible on the recorded page can still appear in a screenshot.

Acceptable use

Do not use HowMaker to break the law, infringe third-party rights, distribute malware, probe or bypass security controls, interfere with the service, send abusive or deceptive communications, collect information without a lawful basis, or publish material you are not entitled to use.

Paid plans and licences

Paid features require a valid paid entitlement. A purchase can issue a licence key which must be activated in the HowMaker workspace. The licence remains linked to the purchased product and its current status. A suspended, expired, revoked or otherwise invalid licence no longer grants paid features. Short verification outages can be covered by a limited grace period where configured.

Prices, billing and renewal

Prices shown before purchase apply to the selected billing period unless stated otherwise. Taxes, discounts and local charges can change the final amount shown at checkout. Recurring plans renew according to the billing period and cancellation terms shown by the billing service. Enterprise plans use individual commercial terms and custom pricing.

Third-party services

Some HowMaker functions depend on third-party services such as hosting, email, billing, translation, narration and domain providers. Their availability and processing rules can affect those functions. Where you connect your own provider account, you are also responsible for complying with that provider's terms.

Availability and maintenance

HowMaker aims to keep HowMaker available and secure, but uninterrupted service is not guaranteed. Maintenance, security work, provider failures or events outside reasonable control can cause temporary disruption.

Suspension and termination

Access can be restricted or suspended for overdue payment, an invalid licence, security risk, abuse, breach of these terms or a legal requirement. Where practical, reasonable steps will be taken to preserve customer data while an account is suspended. Serious abuse or legal risk can require immediate action.

Ending your use

You can stop using HowMaker at any time. Paid subscriptions must be cancelled through the billing process that applies to the purchase. Before closing an account, export any information you need where export tools are available. Retention of billing, security and audit records can continue where required.

Intellectual property

HowMaker, its software, interface, branding and documentation remain the property of their respective owner or licensors. These terms do not transfer ownership of the service or its underlying software to you.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, HowMaker is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by customer content or configuration, or failures of services outside its reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

These terms can be updated when the service or legal requirements change. Material changes will be published through the service or another appropriate channel. Continued use after an effective change means the updated terms apply where permitted by law.
